Lake Mead RV Holiday
Lake Mead is located about 30 miles east of Las Vegas and 100 miles west of the Grand Canyon. This outdoor recreational wonderland is a quick 30 minute drive from our Las Vegas branch. The area is ideal for touring with one of our RV rental vehicles with wide open roads and plenty of beautiful scenery. Pick up a camper rental and hit the open road with adventure on your mind and wonder in your heart.
Lake Mead, and the recreational area that surrounds it, was formed after the construction of The Hoover Dam. Tours of the dam itself are very popular with tourists. There are many roads designed for driving tours, our camper rentals simply love been taken out on the open road.
Katherine Landing is at the southern tip of the recreation area. The campground located there has 173 sites for tents and of course our RV rentals are more than welcome. It serves as an ideal launch point for water based activities or driving tours of the local area.
Below we discuss some ideas to help you make the most of your holiday at Lake Mead. Whether you choose to spend your time on the lake or driving in the comfort of your camper rental you will be inspired by the local natural beauty.
Boating & Fishing
Boaties will have unrestricted access to the area's beautiful natural features, features that are hidden from those traveling by car. Boats will comfortably travel up the narrow, steep walled canyon gorges. Leave your RV rental on shore and take some time to explore the lake.
The several marinas in the area have a full range of services for keen boaties and fishermen. You will find all the services you could want, this includes a wide range of rentals from fishing boats, to ski boats and waterskiing equipment, to houseboats.
Fishermen consider Lake Mead to be among some of the best fishing spots in the USA. And, unlike other lakes, it is open season on all species of fish year-round.
Campervan rental holiday makers can store any fish they catch in the freezer compartment of their camper vehicle. The easy to use cooking facilities of our campervan rentals will help you transform your catch into a delicious meal. Can you think of a better way to enjoy fresh fish?
Scenic Drives
While there are several routes to choose from all of the touring roads through Lake Mead country provide dramatic desert scenery. Towering mountains, vast open desert littered with cactuses and creosote bush provide a constant scenic backdrop to a camper rental holiday.
The most popular scenic drives are those which wind along the edge of Lake Mead. These roads provide stunning 360 degree views of the lake and of the colorful desert mountains. The area contains a visually arresting variety of red boulders and rock formations.
Other scenic roads pass through other wild landscapes. Most of them are accessible by our RV rental vehicles. For example, the road to Pearce Ferry runs through amazingly rare Joshua-tree forests. However we advise you to stay away from unpaved backcountry roads and drive only on paved roads. The conditions of these roads vary widely and it is considered safest to stick to the sealed roads.
